Smith insists that he's not requested a trade to the Chargers or Raiders

The Carolina Panthers insist Steve Smith has requested a trade.

However, the wide receiver claims that is not the case. There were rumors that he requested a traded to the San Diego Chargers or Oakland Raiders.

Smith recently spoke to the media about his situation with the Panthers. He says he did not request a trade despite the rumors.

"I have not demanded a trade," Smith said. "What I have asked for is to be in a competitive situation."
