Steel bring back Brown to help the defense

By Anthony Caruso III

The Trenton Steel has added to its defensive with their latest signing.

The Steel has signed Melik Brown to a contract for the rest of this season. Brown was in training camp with the Steel, before going to an open tryout with the Philadelphia Soul in the Arena Football League. Brown made the Soul roster out of camp, before playing in one game and getting released.

Brown was a member of the AIFA championship Baltimore Mariners team last season. He is also re-united with E.J. Nemeth, the quarterback from that Mariners team.

Brown was listed as a linebacker and a fullback for the Soul. But he will be used on the defensive line and at linebacker for the Steel.

"Our defense has been coming in as we turned things around," said Steel head coach Rose Miller. "Melik is an outstanding addition who will make our defense even stronger.

"His strength and agility will really help us."
