Ainge retires from pro football due to injuries

By Anthony Caruso III

Erik Ainge didn't have the pro career that he had hoped.

Ainge, the New York Jets third-string quarterback, has announced that he has decided to walk away from football. He said he is retiring due to injuries to his right foot and throwing shoulder.

Ainge had surgery on his foot in January, which has plagued him for years. He also recently announced that he was diagnosed with a torn rotator cuff.

Ainge can not tell the Jets personally of his decision due to the lockout. The Jets have to read about it in the newspapers, or watch it on TV, as Ainge walks away.
