Jake Delhomme could be returning to the Carolina Panthers.
Delhomme is currently a free agent after being released by the Cleveland Browns. He spent the 2010 season with the Browns, as the starter, before Colt McCoy took over the starting job. Delhomme was with the Panthers before going to Cleveland.
Panthers player Ryan Kalil has even went on Twitter to state that he wants the Panthers to re-sign Delhomme. Kalil even posted a quote from Ron Rivera in which Carolina's new coach said, "We’ve got to talk about where we want to head as far as the veteran backup is concerned."
Delhomme could be signed to be a mentor for Cam Newton, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2011 NFL draft. Delhomme would be a mentor that doesn't see any playing time if he signs with the Panthers. There's a chance that Delhomme could be added to the coaching staff.
