Melvin Mora needs a new job.
The Arizona Diamondbacks third baseball is about to get his unconditional release. The move is expected to come on Thursday.
Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson announced the roster move after the team lost to the Cleveland Indians on Wednesday night. In the game, Mora stuck out in a pinch-hit appearance.
Mora, 39, is batting .228 in 127 at-bats this season. He was signed to be the Diamondbacks starter in the off-season, but a car accident during spring training derailed his hopes after receiving a neck injury.
Ryan Roberts took over as the Diamondbacks starting third baseman. Mora, a relegated back-up, spent 12 seasons in the Majors, with the New York Mets, Baltimore Orioles, Colorado Rockies, and D'Backs.
