Carlyle has been designed for assignment by the Yankees

The New York Yankees have removed Budby Carlyle from their roster.

Carlyle was designated for assignment tonight. Carlyle, who is 33-years old, has a 4.70 ERA in 7 2/3 innings this year.

Carlyle pitched with the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters of the Japanese League last year. He had a 4.88 ERA in 27 2/3 innings with Japan.

Prior to pitching for the Yankees, Carlyle last pitched in the Majors in 2009. He pitched for the Atlanta Braves from 2007 to 2009.

He has also spent time with Hanshin Tigers in the Japanese League and LG Twins in the Korean League. He also pitched for the San Diego Padres and the Los Angeles Dodgers.
