Santana hopes to be back in the majors this season

By Anthony Caruso III

The New York Mets are close to getting Johan Santana back.

Santana is throwing off of a mound again. Santana has been out with a shoulder injury. He has not pitched since last season.

Santana's throwing program saw a speed bumb in early June when he reported feeling soreness in his surgically-repaired left shoulder. After a few days rest, he has began to throw off the mound again and hopes for a return to the mound before the end of this season.

The Mets have not released a time-table for Santana's return.
