Jermaine Dye has decided to hang up his cleats forever.
Dye, a 37-year-old, has decided to retire after he could not receive a Major League contract. This was first reported by Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.
Dye was in contact with several teams this off-season, but he wanted a guaranteed roster sport. Unfortunately, nobody was willing to give him more than a minor league contract, with an invite to the spring training camp.
Dye did not play in the 2010 season. His last season was in 2009 with the Chicago White Sox. He ends his career with 325 career home runs.
