Grimes pitches her first solo no-hitter in her career

By Anthony Caruso III

No-Hitters are more common in softball than in baseball.

But it's still a great feat every time a no-hitter happens. Northwestern State junior right-handed pitcher Kelee Grimes pitched a no-hitter on Wednesday in the second game of a double header against Alcorn State.

Grimes is the 11th pitcher in school history to record a no-hitter. She struck out 16 strikeouts in the game en route to her second career no-hitter and her first career solo no-hitter. She combined with Brooke Boening and Jessica English to throw Northwestern's previous no-hitter on March 9th, 2010 against Grambling.

Grimes improved to 5-6 on the season. Northwestern State improved to 22-16 with the win.
