Riley signs a contract extension to be the Warriors GM

By Anthony Caruso III

It has been several years since the Golden State Warriors, but Larry Riley is keeping his job.

Riley received a new multi-year contract to stay in his current position as the Warriors General Manager. Shortly before receiving the contract extension, new Warriors owners Joe Lacob and Peter Guber gave Riley a vote of confidence.

Riley came to the Warriors as an assistant coach under former head coach Don Nelson. After two seasons as an assistant coach, he was promoted to assistant GM in November 2008. He just finished his second season as the GM of the Warriors.

"I think Larry has done a great job and I've been very pleased with his performance," Lacob said. "He's had a vision since he took the job less than two years ago and he has certainly helped move this team in an extremely positive direction in terms of our culture, cap management and roster additions. With that said, he also understands that we still have plenty of work to do and that expectations for this team have increased."
