Gutierrez to start a rehab assignment for the Mariners today

Franklin Gutierrez is going back to the minors.

Gutierrez will be starting a rehab assignment with the Seattle Mariners Class-A farm team tonight. The Mariners announced the plans for Gutierrez on Thursday.

Gutierrez was placed on the 15-day disabled list on March 30th with stomach gastritis. He appeared in a game on March 19th in spring training. He only appeared in 9 spring training games and went 6-for-25 with three RBI’s in the spring.

Gutierrez is a five-year veteran, and let the Mariners with 64 RBI’s last season. He also set a major league record with 415 chances in the outfield without an error.
