Ian Kennedy was the Cliff Lee-type pitcher in the D'Backs win over the Phillies

By Anthony Caruso III

The Philadelphia Phillies were rolling on their West Coast trip.

Then, they ran into Ian Kennedy. Kennedy was the underdog in the match up against Cliff Lee. But Kennedy stopped the Phillies 5-game win streak.

Kennedy struck out 10 batters in a three-hit shutout, helping the Diamondbacks to a 4-0 win over the Phillies. The complete game and the shutout were the first in Kennedy's career. He has made 49 previous starts in 5 Major League seasons.

He is now 3-1 on the season with a 4.02 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP. He has struck out 26 batters, while walking 8 batters.
